Windlight settings, so fun to play with them…

Some time ago I posted some information about a Windlight sky preset that AM Radio had published in Flickr to share with everybody.

I think AM Radio had a great idea. Windlight is a great tool, it gives you the possibility of exploring light, shadows, it gives a totally new vision of Second Life and opens a new door for creativity.

Some days ago I was playing with different settings in SLsky and following the path AM Radio opened I’d like to share them with you.

First, and old known, Nostalgia: ;-)

Nostalgia (sky setting by AM Radio)

Here I’m using the Nostalgia sky by AM Radio, you can download it here, then follow the instructions at the end of the post to install it.

Sometimes I’m tired of the sun in SL, the weather is always perfect, so I made this setting, Storm:

Storm (playing with Windlight sky settings)

You can download the Storm sky setting here, then install it following the instructions at the end of the post.

And finally one a bit trippy, he he he, but my favourite, Bright Life. Even the colors are no natural (at least in my RL life) I like it a lot.

Bright Life (playing with Windlight sky settings)

Click here to download the Bright Life setting, then install it following the instructions at the end of the post.

All the settings can be downloaded in the BOX widget in the right column if you don’t want to open a new window in your explorer.

To install them follow this instructions:

  • Download the files in the links up or in the BOX widget in the right side column of this page.
  • Then move the file .xml to the following folder:
    • In a Windows PC move it to C: \ Program Files \ SecondLifeWindLight \ app_settings \ windlight \ skies

    • In Mac go to the Application folder or to the one you have saved the Second Life Windlight viewer, Ctrl+click on it and select “Explore the package” or something like that (sorry, my Mac OS X is in spanish). Then open the folders Contents, Resources, app_settings, windlight, skies and save the file there.

  • Restart Windlight viewer.
  • Select Nostalgia, Storm or Bright Life in the Sky Presets menu.

Sorry, i don’t know how to do in it Linux, but sure someone can comment here and give the info.

Come on, play with Windlight, share your dream (or nightmare) sky with all.

Feeling a bit lost…

Bird, originally uploaded by Raul Crimson.

Don’t you have sometimes the sensation you are lost? You have a path in mind and suddenly you realize you are not in the point of the path you are supposed to be.

This blog is meant not to only show what I’m doing or to talk about things I think can be important or interesting, is meant also to show what i’m feeling, a way to express myself in all the sides of my “lifes” (mostly concentrated in my Second Life). RL and SL are together, one affects the other, and now my RL is a bit confused with some changes in my job, some projects not going OK, some problems with friends… you know, not BIG issues, just this kind of small things that don’t help to make you feel good, I’m sure you understand.

All that is affecting to my SL too and the things i do, SLphotography, my furniture store, even with some friends. Sometimes I feel like if i was needing a SLvacation (well, actually I think what i need is a RLvacation).

I feel like I’m lost in all that, like I have to change some things but just don’t know where to start… Like if i start to change things i will loss something important for me… Like when you try to stand up and you get trapped inside the colission map of the prims of the seat you were sat. I need to change things but at the same time I’m afraid of changing. What a stupid situation…

I’m sure all this is just temporary, and in some days or weeks I’ll be again as I use to be, but i’d like to ask you to understand if you feel me distant or something, is not I’m not OK with you… is just I’m working to be OK with myself.

After the Maze party…

Mardi Gras at The Maze party #7 (The last ones in the party)

Wow! What a party, friends!!! Thanks to all the wonderful people that had the possibility to come to the party. Anyway I really missed the ones that had some RL questions that took them outside SL (big hug for all, we will have another party even just you and me ;-) ).

Friends came in really awesome outfits!

Mardi Gras at The Maze party #6 Mardi Gras at The Maze party #2 (Rabbity)

Arahan Claveau gave us one of the best DJ sessions I ever heard, you can download it or stream it online here. (I <3 Arahan!!! Thanks, my friend, for that!)

Mardi Gras at The Maze party #5 (The Queen of Hearts thinking in who will have his head off) Mardi Gras at The Maze party #4

For some moments we were more than 30 people there! (it may seem not so much, but in Second Life is a mass of people, specially because when you are over 40 people in one sim the performance and stability is 0 and the frame rate goes to 3 frames per hour ;-) ).

The White Rabbit is relaxing before the party Mardi Gras at The Maze party #3

Thanks to Soldeus Stygian and Menno Ophelia for their help on building The Maze.

The Maze will be there for a month, so you still can visit it and enjoy it (follow this SLurl).

Here you are the pics in a slideshow, and if you have some picture of the party feel free to add it! :-D
